I have loved quiche since I was about ten years old when I first tried it. And I've loved it ever since.
Hubby had wanted me to make him Spagetti this week, and since I'm not that big a fan, I decided to make myself a quiche. And my tastebuds are so happy!
I started out rolling up a homemade pie crust~ although you can use store bought pie shells. I use the basic Crisco pie crust recipe linked here. Storebought is good but homemade is awesome~nothing beats a flaky homemade pie crust! If you'd like an easy way to help you roll out some pie dough here's how I do it.
I started with a basic quiche recipe and threw in what ingredients I had on hand~ I hope you enjoy it too!

Prepare pie crust and put it in freezer till ready to use.
1/2 pound bacon
1 cup milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
3 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
Freshly Ground Pepper
1 cup (I used more) cheese
I also added some~
green, red and yellow peppers
mushrooms
thinly sliced onion
cut up pepperoni
Cook Bacon and sprinkle on bottom of pie. Sprinkle 1 cup of cheese on top and whatever ingredients you want to add such as peppers and onions. Blend together milk, heavy cream, salt and eggs and pour over top. Don't overfill quiche or it will overflow in oven. Ask me how I know!
Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes in a preheated oven. Quiche is done when center is set.
Let sit so the center can solidify.
*added note* I think next time I prepare this I'm going to add another egg and decrease the milk so slightly so it will be a bit more solid after baking.

I just simply LOVE quiche and I see I'm not the only one! ;) Thank you Vicky~!
DeleteGood Afternoon Lil, Quiche is a favourite in my home and yours looks delicious. You mentioned you were going to change the filling slightly, I tend to use 4 eggs, but use 3 of the yokes and one whole egg and a little milk...I'm not sure about the cup measurements I'm afraid as I am from England.... I keep the egg whites in the freezer ready for when I want to make a merengue. I love the addition of peppers, and I am going to add them next time I make a quiche.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.
Best Wishes
Daphne
Daphne~ that's a wonderful idea and would definitely make it a bit more firm in the middle faster.
DeleteI like quiche too and you have reminded me that I have not made one in quite a while!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nudge, your recipe is perfect.

DeleteOh I love quiche! I was an adult the first time I had it and it was love at first bite.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I use bisquick and that way it makes it's own crust, but that's because I'm lazy, lol!
Your recipe looks so yummy! I see a quiche in my future, lol! Thanks for linking up to the "Making Your Home Sing Monday" linky party.
I had a thought yesterday that I need to make another! Can you believe that?
