Salad, Cupcakes, Dinner, Cucumbers and Bread~!

Thank you to all new followers! I really appreciate each and every one coming  to visit and especially hearing from you when you comment!  It really makes my day and I try and respond to each and every one!  I also love to visit your blogs!

Here's a little (or should I say a lot) of what I've been up to lately.
We're still enjoying our Salad in a Jar! I make them on Sunday Evening and they have lasted 6 days and are still fresh when we open them. It's amazing! Our diet is healthier since we are eating salad 6 days a week and we have had no waste!  Our salad in a jar is so much better than the salad bags we've purchased in the grocery store!
I made these cupcakes for our last ladies devo and haven't gotten around to posting the recipe but will one day. This frosting is the bestest ever! Not too sweet like buttercream and I've had friends that don't like frosting say that this was good!
One of our recent dinners~ Oven baked Pork Chops, Stuffing, brussel sprouts and our own Salad in a Jar.
This week I made two extra salads/side dishes on Sunday Night for a quick addition to dinner~ Garbanzo Bean Salad and a Tangy Cucumber Salad. This one is simple~ olives, cherry tomatoes, sliced Cucumber, onions and an Olive Oil or Italian Dressing. And a bit of freshly ground pepper that really makes it sing!
I've been playing around with the Homemade One Hour White Bread (updated the recipe too) and and found that the loaves were a bit small for sandwiches. I increased the yeast by a Tablespoon and now the loaves are much taller. I added some oats to the top of this batch.
Have a wonderful weekend and I hope your time is spent surrounded by those you love!

  1. Hi again! Oh, your tangy cuke salad reminded me of my dear sweet Mom who used to make something just like that when I was growing up. I still have a thing for cukes..sooo good! Wanted to let you know about the olive oil stain status on my son's shirt.I made up the stain remover, sprayed it on that stain and I am proud to announce that------the stain is.....GONE! Ya----Hooooo! Thanks again for posting that :)Have a very blessed Sunday!!!!

  2. Oh my, everything looks so yummy! So, does the salad get all soggy and saturated in the dressing? It seems like the lettuce would get all soggy. How do you avoid that?

Thanks for linking up to "Making Your Home Sing Monday" today! :)

    1. The salad does not get soggy because of the order everything is put in the jar. The heartier salad makings go towards the bottom and the lettuce is at the top so it is seperated and does not touch the dressing at all. It really works and I'm so glad!

  3. I am going to try the salad in a jar. It seems like it would get all soggy but it doesn't.

    1. It's odd that it would seem like it would get soggy but because of the order of the veggies it doesn't. Chunky veggies go on the bottom and the lettuce and dressing never touch! Hope you like it!
